The Justice Department on Wednesday fired Maurene Comey from the United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York, where she most recently led the prosecution of Sean "Diddy" Combs, multiple sources told ABC News.
A spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's Office in Manhattan declined to comment. A spokesperson for the Justice Department did not immediately respond to a call for comment.
Comey was a highly regarded assistant U.S. attorney who successfully prosecuted Ghislaine Maxwell, the former associate of six offender Jeffrey Epstein, and multiple gang members before the split verdict earlier this month in the trial of Combs, who was convicted of a prastitution-related charge but acquitted of more serious charges.
Comey was also involved in the office's case against Epstein, who died by suicide in 2019 at New York City's Metropolitan Correctional Center while he was awaiting trial on federal six trafficking charges.
Comey is the daughter of former FBI director James Comey, who President Donald Trump fired during his first term in office because he initiated the Russia investigation.

This happened because the Chief Retard said he didn't want a Comey in his administration. This had nothing to do with the case, just a jughead seeking revenge against anyone he doesn't like.

What Ya'll are saying maybe true but this was a major fail in comparison to other cases that Comey had prosecuted in the past. LOLO

She was fired because she knew who was on the Epstein list. She knows too much and they want this buried. Has nothing to do with Diddy.

I believe this was about losing the Diddy case. Trump had plenty of opportunity to fire her this past year once he took office but did not. However, the Diddy case was a overzealous embarrassment. The feds have a 98% conviction rate and this was an extremely high profile case. Many eyes were watching including her superiors and they lost. Not only did they lose but the feds are being accused of over charging. Now she gets fired a month after the partial acquittal? She may have been on thin ice because of the heat from the Trump administration but losing the Diddy case pushed everything over the edge for sure.
