BET Hip Hop Awards and The Soul Train Awards Suspended Indefinitely

BET CEO Scott Mills announces that that BET Hip Hop Awards and the Soul Train Awards have been suspended indefinitely...

BET has made a major move that’s catching a lot of people off guard. The network has officially suspended both the BET Hip Hop Awards and the Soul Train Awards indefinitely. Yes, that means two of the most culturally significant nights in Black music have no set date to return, and there’s no word on whether they ever will.
This isn’t just about two award shows. The BET Hip Hop Awards has been the go-to celebration of rap and hip hop culture since 2006, known for its cyphers, bold performances, and moments that made headlines. Likewise, the Soul Train Awards have been honoring R&B and soul since 1987, highlighting legends while giving shine to emerging talent.
BET CEO Scott Mills confirmed, “For BET linear, we have suspended the Soul Train and Hip-Hop award shows. But we have a team that’s actively thinking about where those award shows might best live as the media climate continues to evolve.”

Wow, that’s not good

Most likely they are going in the direction of the Essence Festival of Culture.

Moving away from a black/African American event to one that better represents the African Diaspora.

Remember BET is no longer Black owned. This decision comes from the parent company. Eventually BET will
be dismantled all together.

Look at how long term corporate business supporters of African American Culture stopped, because of what Trumps
Administration lumps together as DEI & therefore no longer politically or Culturally appropriate. Like Target for example

The name BLACK ENTERTAINMENT TV is NOW DEEMED racially divisive.According to this countries current AGENDA. TV Stations - TV licensure is Federally Regulated.

All over this country the celebration of Black Excellence has been painted over, torn down, removed from the net and defunded

These are scary & painful times & this is just HALF of his FIRST YEAR in office. Can we survive 4 years.

Think of what's to come. Pray for our people & this Nation.

And to think people used to say that Project 2025 was nothing to be concerned about. I wonder if they’re concerned now.

@7:36 Well said, very well said.

Anonymous said...

Are people really concerned about an award show that isn't being televised?

Anonymous said...

GOOD! Too much friction going on.

Anonymous said...

9:36 no, it's fake outrage. Every year they complain how ghetto and trash it is and now that's it's suspended they wanna turn it into a civil rights movement smh.

based on what he said it looks like its going to streaming or youtube

Black culture has been garbage since 2008. Good riddance. And a "diaspora" network would be a huge flop. If you want to find when Black culture was classy look back at the 90s, 80s, 70s...go watch the old award shows from then and see how MUCH more productive and talented Black America once was.

I’m fine with it being cancelled ! All this Trump 2025 nonsense is why people can’t see forest from the trees ! The awards show was wack period .. nothing to do with Trump ! I’m black and I stopped watching that crap years ago .. no one watches TV anymore .. these are the facts … stop blaming Trump for everything it’s stupd

Shannon Sharpes $23M settlement
Puff's $20M settlement

Could have made a difference for black Americans instead of generational wealth for other communities.

@11:21 You’re right, but dame, is it worth the psychological trauma they bring with them? I know 25 mil goes very, very far, but I’d rather work and rely on a 401k and a few investments than to deal with the shit Kanye, Puff, 50, etc bring to the table.

That gutter trash only appeals to those who enjoy such subversive bullsht. Blow it all up!!

AMEN! 6:20 & 7:36 AM

paramount owns BET Parmount merged with Skydance who is open about supporting Trump's anti dei agenda. This is just the beginning. Did any of yall bother to read project 2025? rhymes is next

People don't know how to dress and act anymore. The award shows been going downhill - they just hit the bottom that's all. Time for something NEW or IMPROVED,

Anonymous said...

And Skydance is getting ready to kick Gayle King out the door of CBS Mornings. I expect Nate is next. They’ll keep punk-ass Tony. Oprah can’t save Gayle King but she was able to give us Dr Phil and Dr Oz who both work for Trump.

This upheaval of Black talent in the newsroom has been going on since they gave Tiffany Cross the boot at MSNBC. No one complained and look at them now. And MSNBC is getting ready to close shop under some kind of merger.

And there’s not much we can do (yet) because Trump appointed hundreds of conservative judges in his first term and they will make sure Project 2025 laws will pass.

I don't think judges make law, that's congress' job. Word is that new networks will emerge to replace these old stale ones. We'll be alright.

Anonymous said...

1:23 you’re right, judges do not make or enact laws BUT duh, judges determine and confirm which laws can stay and which laws can go; which laws are right and which laws are wrong; which laws are legal and which laws are illegal. So whatever Dump and project get enacted, his judges will make sure they stick.

Congress makes laws and court rooms enforce them. We can sue but we won’’t win. We can take it to the Supreme Court and Uncle Clarence and his crew will be waiting. We have very few avenues open to us right now to fight back. That’s why Trump can make demands from major universities and media organizations and there’s nothing our politicians and leaders can do.

Tell me how we gon’ be a’ight.

Anonymous said...

Something else. You’re right that the networks will emerge to replace the old ones. That’s the same thing they’re doing with government jobs. Firing everybody and they will soon replace them all.

Now, who do you think the replacements will be in the media jobs? (Not people like us.)

Ditto on these migrant jobs. They’re sending all the “illegals” out the country. Who do you think will get those jobs? (People like us.)

And you say we gon’ be alright.

Anonymous said...

We will be alright. You seem to believe all agendas prevail and all plans are successful. Not so, history shows us that. Also, the fact we were told about this agenda speaks volumes. If it was so powerful it would've been kept a Secret.

Thee Lordt was pissed when BET awarded Glorilla for Gospel. Now, no one will be getting.

@1:42 PM Don't waste your breath on these dummies. They don't read or comprehend anything that's not on TikTok. SCOTUS has handed that Orange clown all kinds of wins this year alone and you have some fool up top implying the most idiotic things like agendas aren't real if they're not done in secret. Geez, we are truly doomed.

I agree @10:44 am
I been stopped watching it

eta: I can't stand Drump
But some people are so obssessed by him !
They even blame him even when they
forget to flush the toilet,

History shows us that when YT makes legal moves like Trump is making, it can take us 100 years to gain footing. See Civil War toReconstruction, Jim Cro

Anonymous said...

See the Civil War to Reconstruction to Jim Crow laws (the new Project 2025) to the civil rights movement. It took us almost 100 years to get equal treatment.

Anonymous said...

That’s what history shows us.

Anonymous said...

It took us almost 100 years to get equal footing AFTER the Civil War. Black people need to get ready to do the same damn work all over again.

Anonymous said...

No one watches award shows so they were probably a financial drain. Then there is a huge lack of star power out there which tends to happen when the same artists keep getting pushed to the front.

12:18 PM And yet your on Snitch talking sh!t.

I've been saying that almost everyday. How are going to make it through this set back? LOLO

This administration is really trying to get a rise out of black Americans. Stay resilient. A lot of us didn’t care for these award shows anymore as social media influencers took over both, but I’m sure the viewers that did enjoy these shows will be disappointed. For those folks: Don’t let that orange turd and his eyeliner wearing side kick get a reaction from you! Stay on task.

BET is no more. It's gone.
As for the new agenda and the erasure of black excellence, you can either stay here and deal with the BS or get your passport and go be somewhere else where it's not as toxic. Get out while you still have time. Make plans... gather the family you care about and GTFO
