Eminent domain was often a tool of racism. Minority communities were targeted when building parks, highways and other " for the public good" projects. White government officials targeted minority communities because they could devalue the property thus lowering the " just compensation" that had to be paid. Economic and racial discrimination in one fell swoop.

I've seen that placard in CP and it pisses me off. They destroyed lives and all they have to show for it is a tiny sign with a few words that don't even begin to address the disgusting behavior that displaced so many people. I become more and more disgusted with America by the day.

Can’t have prosperous black communities popping up around the US. Gotta keep the narrative going that we are lazy, uncivilized, and looking for a handout. I will say as a NYer, my state (mostly in the city) has worked OT trying to erase/hide the dark history.
