Sean Kingston Files to Appeal His Conviction

Two weeks ago recording artist, Sean Kingston, was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison after his conviction on fraud charges [click here if you missed that].

Sean files his first appeal...

From Complex
Sean Kingston is looking to overturn his prison sentence just 13 days after being convicted.
According to a court document reviewed by Complex, the 35-year-old singer, born Kisean Paul Anderson, submitted a notice of appeal on Thursday (Aug. 28) to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
The filing, made with Sean's attorney, Zeljka Bozanic, contests the final judgment and sentence he was handed on Aug. 15, plus all pretrial and trial rulings made in the case.
Earlier this year, Kingston was convicted of wire fraud, securities fraud, and aggravated identity theft after prosecutors accused him of running a scheme to obtain luxury goods, including cars and jewelry, by misrepresenting his financial status and using forged documents.
The court determined he defrauded vendors out of millions of dollars and, in addition to prison, ordered him to pay restitution, though the amount remains sealed in some records.
Sean, who rose to fame with his 2007 hit “Beautiful Girls” and later “Fire Burning” in 2009, has since faced multiple civil suits over unpaid debts and luxury purchases that culminated in the federal case.
