Now Eddie has retained a high powered attorney to represent him at trial...
From US
The Real Housewives of Potomac star Eddie Osefo hired powerhouse attorney Joseph Murtha, who previously worked on a high-profile case involving former President Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky, to defend him against insurance fraud allegations, Us Weekly can exclusively report.
On Friday, October 24, Murtha filed court documents in the Bravo star’s criminal case. As Us previously reported, Osefo and his wife, Wendy Osefo, were arrested on October 9, on charges of insurance fraud, conspiracy insurance fraud and making a false statement to a police officer.
Wendy, 41, filed court docs this week asking to have her trial separate from any codefendants, including her husband. She also asked for all charges to be dropped. Eddie, 41, hired Murtha, who has quite the experience in court.
According to his law website, Murtha is a veteran trial attorney with experience in both state and federal courts.
He is well-known for two high-profile cases. He represented Linda Tripp in a case where she was accused of breaking the law when she taped her conversations with Lewinsky, 52, who was involved in a sex scandal with former President Clinton, 79, while he was in office in 1995. All charges against Tripp were dropped in 2000.
In a separate case, Murtha represented a Baltimore police officer named William Porter. Prosecutors charged Porter with manslaughter over the death of 25-year-old Freddie Gray. Gray sustained fatal injuries while in police custody on charges of possession of a knife. He was taken to a trauma center and announced dead on April 19, 2015. His death led to protests and numerous investigations into the matter. (Three officers were found not guilty, two officers had charges dropped and Porter had his charges dropped after a mistrial.)
