Mystikal remains behind bars after he is denied bond...
From Louisiana First News
An Ascension Parish judge has ordered that Louisiana native Michael Tyler, known as the rapper Mystikal, remain in jail until his trial.
Tyler is facing multiple charges stemming from a 2022 incident, including first-degree grape, domestic abuse battery–strangulation, and false imprisonment. Tyler pleaded not guilty to charges.
During a court hearing on Tuesday, Judge Steven Tureau denied a bond request for Tyler.
According to Louisiana First News reporter Michelle Masson, Tyler’s mother and business manager told Tureau they’d help watch over him if bond was granted.
The judge did set a new trial date for March 30, 2026. The trial is expected to last at least one week.
Tyler has another court hearing set for Jan. 21, 2026.
Tyler previously served time in jail for a sixual battery charge in 2003. In 2016, he was charged with kidnapping and sixual assault, but the case was dropped.
If found guilty, he faces a life sentence.
