Gayle King Safe at CBS?

For months there have been whispers that CBS would not be renewing Gayle King's contract when it expires in May [click here if you missed that].

Now insiders are claiming Gayle's job is safe for now...

From Page Six
Amid a hurricane of speculation about Gayle King’s future at CBS, Page Six has learned that the “CBS Mornings” co-host had a “low key lunch” with the network’s swashbuckling new news chief Bari Weiss.
And it seems that the pair have reached an accord of sorts, with a CBS spokesperson telling us after the sit-down “we expect [King] to have a very long future here.”
Lightning rod Weiss has shaken up the Tiffany network’s news operation since she took over in October, overseeing layoffs and reorganizations of key roles.
In one of her more high-profile maneuvers, she moved King’s “CBS Mornings” co-host Tony Dokoupil to the legendary anchor’s chair on “CBS Evening News.” She also hired veteran Matt Gutman from ABC.
Meanwhile, King’s (famously lucrative) contract is up in four months.

Gayle might be safe, but that wig is distressed.

They only have one Black face. Hard to get rid of that.

@8:39. Gayle stay looking a mess and I”m not surprised she nailed a place for herself at CBS. They’ll get another yt person (man?) to replace Tony and he’ll have as much power as Gayle.

I knew Tony was going to CBS Nightly News after he attacked Ta-Nehisi Coates. And Tony’s father-in-law (Katy Tur’s dad) is Trans woman but they keep that hidden like a mf.

O must have made a call to save her. The bottom line is they are still at the low end of the morning shows. Did she get a raise for being a bottom news caster. They need someone new along side her to spark the ratings. LOLO

She is safe if for no other reason than she is the black face that can enter black spaces when issues arise. She is necessary for the station to practice respectability politics at a time when the country is greatly divided with no unity in sight for the near future.
