OWN has greenlit two new television specials starring Iyanla Vanzant, an Emmy-winning spiritual life coach. While details of the specials are still under wraps, both will continue Vanzant’s goal of helping people “fix” their lives, with production beginning in March.
The news of the two specials comes following the launch and rollout of “Iyanla: The Inside Fix,” a revived take on Vanzant’s previous series, “Iyanla: Fix My Life,” in which she offered deeper reflections on 12 of the most memorable episodes. “Iyanla: The Inside Fix” premiered at No. 1 among African American women, according to OWN, which says it’s the top-rated cable network among African American women on Saturdays.
“The response to ‘The Inside Fix’ has been nothing short of a blessing,” said Vanzant. “The series is a ministry of healing. Each story, each tear, each moment of truth is a sacred encounter with the human soul. When one soul speaks its truth, the frequency of truth expands through the collective. When one heart is cleansed, the vibration of wholeness ripples outward. Those who watch are not bystanders; they are participants in the collective healing process for themselves, their families, their communities and the world. It is not about fixing your life. It is about freeing your soul. No more surface solutions. This is where truth becomes transformation.”

I've seen a few of her shows but I don't always agree with her advise. On the episode with DMX, she tried to tell his son that he didn't have to hug his father because DMX wouldn't promise that he'd stay off drugs. She was foul for that. You could tell the son's natural instinct was to hug his father. On the episode with Luenell, Iyanla gave excuses for her own aunt for not believing that she was SA'd by her uncle at age nine. Luenell was adamant that Iyanla's aunt should have protected her at all costs. But that was Iyanla's business to forgive her aunt.
Good thing Karenda isn't fixing anyone's life!
@Karenda I couldn't get over that DMX episode. Iyanla is no fixer IMO.
@11:06 AM...Her show is entertaining but her own life is in dire straits.
