R.I.P. Pimp C
Pimp C, one-half of the veteran Houston rap group UGK, was found dead in an upscale hotel on Tuesday. "It is with great regret that I must confirm that Chad Butler aka Pimp C, one half of the legendary UGK, was in fact discovered dead this morning," his publicist, Nancy Byron, said in a statement. "Manager Rick Martin is asking that everyone please respect his family and those close to him at this time and refrain from rumors and innuendo." Pimp C and partner Bun B were pioneers of Southern rap, and hit the mainstream with their cameo on Jay-Z's hit "Big Pimpin'."
Stephon Didn't Know
Sunday night when Stephon Marbury's father started having chest pains during the Knicks game, one of Stephon's kin folks instructed them not to tell Stephon. "Don't tell Steph," a relative said, according to a Knicks official. "Let him play." Sources said a relative told Knicks officials Don Marbury had a history of these types of episodes. Stephon, the second youngest of Don Marbury's seven children, didn't need that kind of distraction right now, the relative said. He played the entire game not knowing his father had died. A Knicks official said Marbury did not complain about being left in the dark about his dad's demise.
The Tapes Don't Lie
Akon pleaded not guilty yesterday in a Fishkill, NY court to endangering the welfare of a minor and second-degree harassment after he tossed a kid into the crowd at a summer concert. Let's hope the judge don't get his hands on these tapes.
Mychal Bell Pleads Guilty
Mychal Bell pleaded guilty Monday to a misdemeanor battery charge that could see him released from a detention center in about eight months. Mychal Bell, 17, originally was charged as an adult with attempted murder in the beating of Justin Barker in December 2006. That charge was reduced before a jury convicted him in June of aggravated second-degree battery. An appeals court threw that verdict out in September and ordered Bell retried as a juvenile. Under his deal, Bell pleaded guilty to a juvenile charge of second-degree battery in return for an 18-month sentence, with credit for 10 months he already has served. Bell had faced being placed in a juvenile facility until his 21st birthday. Bell also must pay court costs plus $935 to Barker's family, testify should his co-defendants in the Barker attack stand trial, undergo counseling and be reintegrated into the school system, his lawyers said.

Blame Jermaine If Janet Doesn't Go On Tour With The Jacksons
They say the Jackson's, including Michael, are planning a world tour but don't expect to see Janet on the bill. Sources claim, "Janet said she would be willing to participate in a few select shows next year, but Jermaine Dupri is holding her out of it. He wants Janet to go back in the studio and record another album, and he's also wary of having her be associated with Michael because he's gotten such bad press. With or without Janet, if they can get Rebbie Jackson to sing Centipede I am so there.
Stephon Marbury's Father Has Fatal Heart Attack During Game
Don Marbury died of an apparent heart attack while attending Sunday night's Knicks game at Madison Square Garden. Stephon Marbury, the sixth of Don's seven children, learned of his father's death immediately after the game and quickly left the arena without comments. Don suffered chest pains during the game and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, where he later died.
Sean Taylor's Half Sister's Boyfriend's Cousin Involved In The Murder
The details are starting to emerge in the Sean Taylor killing and story gets more sordid by the day. Apparently one of the killers is the cousin of the boyfriend of Sean's half-sister Sasha Johnson. The accused are the confessed shooter, 17-year-old Eric Rivera, 17-year-old Jason Mitchell, 18-year-old Charles Wardlow, and 20-year-old Venjah Hunte. Sean and his half sister Sahsa did not grow up together, but after he made it to the NFL, he bought his mother a $900,000 house and invited Shasha and his half brother to come live in it. Fast forward, Sasha has a party for her 21rst birthday at Sean's house Thanksgiving weekend and invited her longtime boyfriend Christopher Wardlow, cousin of suspect Rivera Wardlow, who brought suspect Jason Mitchell, who had cut grass for Sean in the past. According to reports, the shooting resulted from a burglary gone bad because the killers did not expect Sean to be home and shot him in the upper thigh after he surprised them at his bedroom door. The bullet damaged the femoral artery in Sean's leg, causing significant blood loss. Sean never regained consciousness and died a little more than 24 hours later.
