Aretha Franklin's Family Offended by Eulogy

Last week Atlanta pastor Jasper Williams delivered a stinging eulogy for Aretha Franklin condemning single mothers and bashing the Black Lives Matter movement [click here if you missed that].

Aretha Franklin's family brands the eulogy offensive and distasteful...

Aretha Franklin's nephew tells The Detroit Free Press
I want to speak on behalf of the Franklin family as it relates to the comments that Rev. Jasper Williams, Jr. made on Friday during my aunt’s Celebration of Life service on Friday, August 31. We found the comments to be offensive and distasteful.
Rev. Jasper Williams spent more than 50 minutes speaking and at no time did he properly eulogize her.
My aunt did not ask Rev. Jasper Williams, Jr. to eulogize her before she passed away because dying is a topic that she never discussed with anyone.
Our family asked Rev. Jasper Williams, Jr. to perform the eulogy because he eulogized our grandfather (Rev. C. L. Franklin), my aunt (Erma Franklin) and my uncle (Cecil Franklin). However, there were several people that my aunt admired that would have been outstanding individuals to deliver her eulogy including Dr. William J. Barber, Rev. Al Sharpton, Dr. Michael Eric Dyson, Rev. James Holley and Pastor E.L. Branch.
We feel that Rev. Jasper Williams, Jr. used this platform to push his negative agenda, which as a family, we do not agree with.

I'm so glad Aretha's family has spoken out against his bullshit. Aretha Franklin deserved a better eulogy.

These old patriarchal pastors secretly hate and despise the very women, that were the backbone of their church and who's money they have been living off, tax free. Now that the newer generation of black women ain't fucking with them and their bullshit ass colonizer religion, they are fighting mad. The reality is religion is toppling anyone who is truly conscious can religion has been the greatest evil on this planet, responsible for keep people asleep, controlled and in fear of some vengeful sky god and devil in hell with horns. Meanwhile mankind is ruling the majority while he's a minority. It's time to wake the fuck up, give the colonizer back his fake perverted religions stolen from older sources, give him back his fake god and made up satan. Generations of our people been passing this shit down for the last 500 years, its time for this shit to end. Organized religions were created to control the masses while 1% control all the wealth on this planet. That shit is insane and needs to come to an end now!!
