Willow Smith Admits She Had to Forgive Her Parents for the Whip My Hair Era

Eight years ago Willow Smith had a hit single called Whip My Hair before she abruptly quit the music business [click here if you missed that].

On the latest edition of Red Table Talk Willow Smith candidly admits she had to forgive her parents for pushing her to be a pop star...

Willow explains,
“I definitely had to forgive you and daddy for that whole ‘Whip My Hair’ thing. It was mostly daddy because he was so harsh at certain times.”
“It was a couple of years, honestly. Trying to regain trust for not feeling like I was being listened to or like no one cared how I felt.”
“And I had to forgive myself because I felt guilty because everyone is trying to make me better, trying to make my dream. But I didn’t really understand what my dream entailed.”

Fun Fact: In 2011 author Terry McMillan faced backlash after publicly accusing Will and Jada of exploiting their children [click here if you missed that].

Confused. I thought they let their kids be free to find themselves. Meanwhile they pressuring them... in the wrong direction. Smh. Hope this girl goes to college or something. Wouldn't hurt her.

I think unknown younger kids are more likely to be hungry for it because they want the big houses and fancy vacations. But when you already grew up in all of that, where is the incentive to hit the stage?

Yet none of these po misguided, misunderstood off springs ever applied to not even a local college or said fuck that im goung to junior high school. Not one damnit Im going to ger a job and start at the bottom. Mmmm. Jada and will let them raise themselves made a mess of them and now saving hundreds of thousand on red table self therapy. Crazy when all they needed was a hug and bedtime.

So let me get this straight- they pushed her to be in the music business (because let's be real, she was never a pop star) but they couldn't push her away from that grown ass man she was laying in bed with as a child? Oh ok. And folks are always so quick to put Jada on a pedestal. Go figure.

What is Willow doing now besides being jada's wing woman. Jada is so narcissistic, didn't she attend a performing arts school?
Let this child receive her education instead of sitting at your table consigning your shyt

Its odd theyd push hollywood and not education because I remember Will on Arsenio and he was talking as though his children were going to be disciplined and spoke proper. The only kid that went to college was the oldest son Trey

THANK YOU @ Tippie Toes! That entire family is F'd up all to be damned....and I'm sick to hell of Jada's scientology botoxed ass. She's extremely arrogant and self serving.

@3:25 It's like a televised diary. I'm super straight on all that 'Meet the Smith's ass show'.

Will and Jada strike me as the type that loves to hear the sound of their own voice. They probably record each episode and play them back to watch and listen together.

man RWS comments were so LIT in 2011!!!

I was here then, and I remember that...

6:02 Yes it was!!!! I'm still here. But the problem is now these celebs aren't any longer LIT or interesting. We got there number now and there hasn't been any bomb shell info or exciting news just more of the same. A slow decline into mind numbing fuckery. Nothing here to see anymore.
