TMZ Apologizes for Reporting T.I.'s Sister's Cause of Death

This week rapper T.I. called for a boycott of TMZ after they disclosed the cause of his sister Precious' death [click here if you missed that].

TMZ apologizes...

The report about Precious' cause of death has been removed and replaced with a post highlighting her extensive community activism.

I'm torn on this. TMZ is a gossip site. This is what they do. Plenty of people die in jacked up ways and TMZ reports on it. If Madonna's brother died in the similar fashion, TMZ would be all over it. Pillar of the community or not, it is what it is.

What, exactly, did TMZ get wrong? If she died from a cocaine overdose, then she died from a cocaine overdose. Ain't nobody callin' the ME a liar. So, what did they get wrong?

I don't think it was an overdose, it was something like it triggered a cardiac episode.
It is nice of TMZ to apologize, but you can't unring the bell.

@9:17 you sure can't unring the bell. True enough, TMZ is a gossip site. I just think that sometimes you have to discern is it worth it.

@9:31 Thank You! It's all good when it's at someone else's expense. Then it's a blog or gossip site, but let their loved one be posted laid out in the street dead, getting beat to death, or some hurtful information, that means absolutely nothing to anyone, except the families of the victims, then it hits different! These so called reporters, can keep playing with people, if they want to. We may be clicking on a pic of them, or their families reading gory, disrespectful details about them!

Publishing gossip is not the same thing as publishing someone's personal medical records. I don't care who you are or how you make money, medical information including cause of death is not our business. Hospitals need to stop making that info public and bloggers, gossip columns and news outlets need to remember to be human and stop putting it out there. How does that information help anyone besides the family?? Why do you feel entitled to the medical records of a person you have never met??? People suck!

Hippa Laws are supposed to be confidential and still fines are given to those who violate the laws. At the same time was this public knowledge the coroner's findings? did TMZ break the law? they routinely publish the cause of celebrity deaths all the time. Despite her great works in the community, it does not change the fact she did drugs, is this why the midget is mad? because the manufactured images show a crack? the reality is the work she has done with the organizations in the community, will go on. I don't even like them fools over at TMZ, but it is a gossip site and they report on gossip, TI is all in his feelings, but your sister was on the show and therefore subjected to the gossip inquiry as other celebrities. If you don't like stay the hell in obscurity and that goes for family members who make appearances on shows. By now you would think they know how the world of "celebrity" works foh.

My family hates it that I'm so open about my life but THIS kinda ish is why. Folks wanna live in some kind of perfect bubble. I know people that twerk and still go to church. I know people that do coke and wake up and go their professional jobs. Obviously she did a lot of good while on this planet and that is to be commended. But she was human and that's okay too. This is why I hate living in the Instagram age. Folks are too worried about what other folks think. She did the damned thing. Celebrate her life and keep it pushing.

Anyone else in Atlanta remember when the president of the Atlanta City Credit Union was shot by a cop in Jersey? Come to find out the guy was soliciting gay sex while in town for a school reunion, was resisting arrest and killed by the cop. I know the family was horrified when that happened, but I respect the fact that they just kept it classy and let it be what it was. Of course he was married too. But facts are facts and you can't change them.

OOO kay so if she had been a do nothing, no rate bum it would be fine to post it? Either it is right or wrong, no in between. If the info was wrong, an apology was in order. If not then it seems like they have the right to do what they do, post salacious gossip.
