Lizzo Shuts Down Plagiarism Claims

Earlier this month Detroit rapper / singer Lizzo was accused by song writing partners Justin and Jeremiah Raisen of ripping off their melody and lyrics for her smash hit single, 'Truth Hurts [click here if you missed that].'

Lizzo denies the claims...

Lawyers for Lizzo tell Billboard,
“The Raisens are not writers of ‘Truth Hurts.’ They did not collaborate with Lizzo or anyone else to create this song, and they did not help write any of the material that they now seek to profit from, which is why they expressly renounced any claim to the work, in writing, months ago.”
“Although it has become all too commonplace for successful artists to be subjected to these type of opportunistic claims, it is nevertheless disappointing that after all of her hard work, Lizzo has to respond to this specious claim.”
Meanwhile Truth Hurts is in its 7th week at No.1.

They didn't help write the song which is exactly the problem. They want to be compensated for not being included when cleary according to them, their intellectual property was referenced without consent..

@ 1:17, how crazy is it that last night I watched something on YouTube about "one-hit wonders" who passed away and learned the lead singer from La Bouche (Melanie Thornton) died in a plane crash in 2001. She was only 34. I remember that song quite well.
