Rihanna Low Key Shades Jay Z

Two months ago Roc Nation artist Rihanna openly criticized Roc Nation CEO Jay Z after he partnered with the NFL despite their ongoing ban of quarterback Colin Kaepernick for kneeling during the National Anthem to bring awareness to unpunished police brutality in the Black community [click here if you missed that].

Rihanna keeps her foot on Jay Z's neck...

In her latest interview with Vogue Magazine Rihanna says she could never be a sellout and work with the NFL.

From Vogue
I ask Rihanna if we can discuss politics. “How deep you wanna get?” she says. “However deep you’re willing to go,” I say. She signals that I may proceed, and I ask if it’s true that she turned down the Super Bowl halftime show in solidarity with Colin Kaepernick. “Absolutely,” she says. “I couldn’t dare do that. For what? Who gains from that? Not my people. I just couldn’t be a sellout. I couldn’t be an enabler. There’s things within that organization that I do not agree with at all, and I was not about to go and be of service to them in any way.”

Staying on topic- I love Rihanna for having the courage to speak out against the NFL and Jay Z. She is the real STRAIGHT SHOOTER POW! POW! Not Wendell Williams.

Yea, sure Rihanna. She is not a US citizen, so we don't care what she thinks. Go home.

I give no fucks on the NFL of the bootleg crisis actor/activist gonzo/Colin. She is however entitled to her opinion I just want to know what is kneeling doing, to prevent black folks being shot down in the streets? also is the NFL shooting down black folks in the streets? pure comedy.

I think at the end of the day she has changed alot since she has started out and has stepped away from the association with Jay Z, Kanye and Chris Brown. Yeah she sold her soul in the beginning. Doesn't mean that she can't be a changed woman now and try to get it back. With that said her imagery in her most current music videos BBHMM, Needed Me and Pour it Up aren't examples of this, but these were still some time ago. Moving forward if she does continue with the dark imagery alluding to warped dysfunction and luciferianism I will say she's still under oath. But really don't care her music is garbage. All pop music is garbage there are ALOT of artists who are making excellent music speaking truth, love and knowledge who have TALENT. It's not hard to find. But it's definitely not on mainstream radio.

Rihanna did not choose anything. Her record label just like all the other record labels decide when and where their clients shuckNjive oops I mean perform.

the NauseatingFabricatedLeague just chose the highest bidder.

NEWS FLASH - They are ALL sell-outs in one form or another.

Publicity for her new ventures - this is bad look Rihanna.

This thread is is ignorant as fuck. 1. You don't have to be American to disagree with the treatment of people that look like you. 2. And if she did praise Shaun, he's doing way more than you keyboard protesters and politicians have. And then you wonder why nothing is moving in our favor, shit based on this ignorant ass thread, you all don't favor yourselves.

Malika said...

@8:12: I was thinking the same thing! Since when are American citizens the only folks that are allowed to care about Black people dying? And Shaun King may be flawed, but he's doing a lot to help others, and I refuse to knock that!

Don't like football or NFL. But I understand their decision. With these entities anything that interferes with their bottom line must be eliminated.

Let's look at it another way: Let's say that you are an employee at McDonald's. During your working hours, you decided to "take a knee" to protest cops killing black men. What should McDonald's do? Would they be wrong for terminating employee?

I'm happy for posters like Sunno & Malika here - the rest of yall doing the absolute least to know anything..

and what is kneeling doing for your people? well it for one highlighted an issue, it allowed other people to have a national conversation and if it got 1% of black people away from the nonsense meant to keep them numb, then i say it's a good thing...

black people will continue to play in the NFL and so what Niggas still work for Coca Cola, Chic FilA and the likes, they don't need my black ass dollars to continue their white supremacy, but black folks need dollars so go do what you do...we all selling out but we don't have to put our hard earned coins back in their pockets...

buy black on purpose, not for protest!!
boycott the NFL!

But she is right, and this was just money deal for Jayz. The fact that he took bag away from Dupri by a phonecall speaks volumes. Never let someone talk you out of a bag.
