Andre Leon Talley Faces Pushback on Home Ownership Claims

Last month fashion icon Andre Leon Talley filed a lawsuit against former Manolo Blahnik creative director George Malkemus and his husband Anthony Yurgaitis claiming they were essentially trying to steal the deed to his White Plains NY mansion by refusing to honor a spoken agreement concerning ownership [click here if you missed that].

Malkemus and Yugaitis file a counter claim...

This week, Malkemus and Yurgaitis fired back with a new counter claim in Supreme Court saying, “Despite making periodic rent payments through the years, Plaintiff fell drastically behind, failing not only to pay the $6,333.33 per month rent, but also failing to pay the real estate taxes and insurance,” adding the alleged amount Talley owes is $362,323.48.

Andre Talley recently rejected a Go Fund Me account started without his knowledge [click here if you missed that].

Leon better get that personalized Louis Vuitton luggage packed & get out of those white folks house! How you only pay rent and not the taxes and insurance. They go change the locks & sit his stuff on the curb. How he figure somebody was going to pay taxes/ insurance on "his" house. He said his capable legal team is handling it and he doesn't need the go fund me. I'll bet he doesn't have money to pay the lawyer, see them quiting in 3,2,1..... smh

Who makes a verbal agreement about property? Especially not with shady ass Yt fashion queens. Dummy

If you're paying Rent then you're a Tenant and the actual property owner is responsible for paying the taxes, insurance and mortgage using the Rent money. I've never heard of a tenant paying rent, insurance and property taxes. That's just asinine. So either Andre's a complete idiot for signing that agreement knowing what it was or he got played royally and didn't know what he was signing. Either way, he's too damn old to be looking for a new home. His big ass should be settling down somewhere and enjoying his golden years. What a shame.

Public Housing may have an apartment for him.

Wow,the Manolo man make millions off of Black folks, like Tina Turner buying his shoes, but he can't throw his old Black, 70 year old, unemployed friend a bone? Why am I not surprised? Andre was always their flunky and token. They all are super rich, but after 40 plus years in the business he is the only one who doesn't even own a home. I think they tolerated him, but never really liked him. I can't believe after him flying around the world he doesn't even own his house. Hell, poor folks even own a shack. Why couldn't he get a house in his own name? He was the editor at large but couldn't qualify for a mortgage? So he had no business sense. Buying expensive rags to wear but didn't own his own home. Lord, he was trying to fit in and now barely has a place. He better accept that Go Fund Me because once he started calling the rich folks racist, they banned against him.

Andre, used to brag about spending tons of money going to have custom made shirts, pants, draws, and socks in Paris, but he didn't even qualify for a mortgage? Reminds me of this Black woman who hit the lottery, but instead of saving her money or helping the community a lil taste, her dumb @ss paid a million to sit on an "honorary" movie board Spielberg and the others sit on. She has no roll or say, but she takes her dumb @ss up there like she's a part of it. You best believe they take her money. Lol. She's the fool. Worst part is she didn't even win a lot of money but she just had to rub elbows with the rich. Smh.

@12:45,Don't you find it interesting that White wealth grows with age, but Black wealth disappears? He doesn't own his home at 70! When he would stay with those rich folks like Lagerfeld and Lauren they didn't tell him any money secrets, they got rich and he got poorer. 40 years and doesn't own his house.

He needed to put all the energy he used in those patterns and print to pay his damn rent.

This is just sad and no public housing won't have shit for him in NYC. Waiting lists are very long abd nobody but the desperate want to live in those rat and roach infested hell holes.
He clearly valued and spent his money on the wrong things. Its hard to feel all the way sorry for him but I hope this ends well.

@1:42, He so desperately wanted to fit in but he was only ever an "employee," and when you are an employee you can't high ball like Anna Wintour, who gets her clothes for free, or live like the designer's, who make the bulk of the money. Andre lived entirely outside of his means. When you are an employee, do your job and take your tail home. Jet set my big toe! It's hard to be young and broke, but old and broke is excruciating.

I would say that he could sell all that tacky, faggy ass designer clothing he owns, and pay off the back taxes and insurance to help his case, but can't nobody fit nor want that ugly sh*t.

^ Oprah can wear some of his tacky big clothes. Bloop

I don't see the problem. Some people shoplift because they can't afford groceries. Some can't afford clothes so they steal them. He stole a house. So what?!

THANK YOU.

If I rent out a property, my tenants aren't responsible for the taxes and home owner's insurance. LMAO They can get their own renter's insurance, but that has nothing to do with the insurance that I have to pay as the owner.

Yo, what the hell did he get himself into? I don't even think you're responsible for that stuff in a "lease to own" situation (I could be wrong)!

They swindled him something serious. This is why it's important to be about your business and take life seriously. A gentleman's agreement instead of an actual contract to lease, purchase, etc?

He was responsible for rent, taxes and insurance? His rent is supposed to cover all of the expenses, plus a little extra so that the property owner actually makes a profit.

Even if you don't have family/mentors to assist you with the process, a first time buyer's class would guide you through the process and get you into a program for those who may need assistance when purchasing.

I can't believe this.

Sh!t like this makes me happy I have such a strict family. They would've slapped me if I got into something like this at the age of 23.

Never buy a house from a business "friend" there are no "friends" in business. Purchase your property properly and stop making these verbal deals. This is what happened here. he didn't get all t's crossed and i's dotted.
