I like all the ladies they've cast but why is this needed? Can't they come up with a fresh perspective and a new story to tell? How many different ways do we need to find out who told Harpo to beat you, Oprah?

Yeah agree. How many times are they going to tell this story? We have so many stories to tell. Stop making SSpielberg richer than he already is.
I didn't know Fanny had a baby. She has a nice house. Looks like she learned how to stop supporting her hanger on family and live like the queen she is, in voice. Now with the rest of her life?????

Great casting. I can't wait to see it. There's nothing wrong with retelling a great story. It's done all the time. How many interpretations of Macbeth have been made?
Here's the challenge for those of you who want "new" stuff--start writing.

FOR WHY???

The original is a classic....no one needs to sing about cooking and cleanin' for Mista.

The Color Purple is soooo overrated.

I'd rather see what happened next rather than a remake.

Keep rehashing 'Mamie' roles for dark women of color. These celebrities will soil their image for an acting part. Create your own.
