Beyonce Checks Right Said Fred

Three months ago pop star Kelis ruined the rollout for Beyonce's Renaissance album with a messy smear campaign alleging Beyonce sampled her biggest hit, 'Milkshake,' without checking in with her first [click here if you missed that].

Beyonce puts her foot down after 90's pop group Right Said Fred accuses her of the same thing...

From The Sun
Right Said Fred, whose real names are Fred and Richard Fairbrass, told The Sun Bey, 41, was "arrogant" for thinking she was untouchable.
Now in a statement released to The Sun, Beyoncé has given her side of the story.
The statement reads: "The comments made by Right Said Fred stating that Beyoncé used “I’m Too Sexy” in “Alien Superstar” without permission are erroneous and incredibly disparaging.
"Permission was not only granted for its use, but they publicly spoke of their gratitude for being on the album.
"For their song, there was no sound recording use, only the composition was utilized.
"Permission was asked of their publisher on May 11, 2022 and the publisher approved the use on June 15, 2022. They were paid for the usage in August, 2022.
"Furthermore, the copyright percentage of the Right Said Fred writers with respect to the use of “I’m Too Sexy” is a substantial portion of the composition.
"Collectively the Right Said Fred writers own more than any other singular writer and have co-writer credit. This accusation is false."

^^^You can use whatever TF you want as long as its procured(cleared & paid) with publishing. Only ppl mad are the ppl that don't own shit. The performers should be glad for an acknowledgment.
Kelis seems to have deeper issues with Bey, Pharell & the music indy cuz Milkshake music been sampled over 40 times...Neptunes ckearance and she ain't never said nuthin.

She did everything by the book and there's still a complaint? Smh

She's not talented. Real artists write their own music. PERIOD. Aretha, Anita, Prince, Earth Wind and Fire, etc

Exactly 8:34am. Say it again. At this point you'd think this tinkle-winkle dingleberry would have people sampling HER stuff but instead, almost 30 years in the game she still can't muster not one ounce of creativity. I think all these artists she sample from should keep they foot on that neck til she learns how to read and write her own music.

@10:33

Every last one of those artists you've named remade another artist's song. Even Aretha's signature song 'Respect' was a remake. It doesn't make them any less talented.

Full Moon in Pisces today. All praises to the Goddess Beyoncé.

Aretha never wrote her own songs. Most artists don’t.

In twenty years no one's gonna be singing any Beyonce songs. She makes trendy music, none of her songs are considered classic yet and she's been in the game almost three decades. I never hear people listening to any Destiny's Child or her debut album meanwhile Michael, Prince, Whitney, Madonna, Stevie, Marvin... never go out of style.

2:37pm - pretty much!

Heckel and Jeckel need attention. Nobody cared about them when the song was out. Send those two gurls back to the rest home.

Whether or not people like Beyonce’s music or not, her team did the right thing by giving credit and paying them and these white men lied on her. Call THEM out rather than talking about whether Beyonce’s music is classic or not.

There is nothing new under the sun. If she can take a snippet from a hot track and make it hotter....so be it. Artist are inspired by other artist all the time.

@5:20 pm she already called them out, so I don't need to. She posted receipts and shut them down so there's nothing to call out. Her music is still trendy trash hence her sampling Right Said Fred in the first place. The people that worship this woman's mediocre music are weird to me and again in twenty years NO ONE will care about her throw away songs.

@8:07 PM

It's funny that you say no one will care about her music in twenty years. Just today I was jammin out to "Crazy in Love" when it came on just like I did twenty years ago. If you don't like her, fine. But don't apply your distastes to others.

Stop being slick and sidestepping artist and going to their publishing to get the permission. She just a as sneaky as can be. and Jay z is likewise.

Using other people's music is not always a compliment to them.

Some people are lazy and use money to compensate for their laziness.
