Fan Trampled to Death After Glorilla Concert

One woman is dead and several others are fighting for their lives after a stampede is triggered following a concert featuring Glorilla and Finesse2Tymes in Rochester, NY...

From News10
A 33-year-old woman was killed and nine others were injured in a stampede after a show at the Main Street Armory. Two women have critical, life-threatening injuries, according to police.
Rochester Police say GloRilla and Finesse2Tymes had just finished performing when people thought they heard gunfire inside the venue just after 11 p.m. The sound triggered panic, with people rushing for the exits. Police say there was no shooting and that people were injured during the stampede.
Rochester Police Chief David Smith and Mayor Malik Evans spoke about the deadly stampede at a press conference on Monday. Smith said that RPD officers, security, and emergency medical services went inside the building to help the three women with life-threatening injuries. All three were taken to the Strong Memorial Hospital by ambulance, where the 33-year-old died and the rest are “still fighting for their lives”.
Seven additional victims were dropped off by private vehicle at area hospitals with injuries from being trampled. Their injuries are not considered life-threatening. One attendee described the scene to News10NBC.
“All I know, it was a lot of running. A lot of people got hurt. I see people on the ground, like hurt badly,” he said. “It was deathly packed. So I knew I had to get up out of there.”
Smith said that RPD is investigating the incident to not only determine what happened but to bring accountability for those responsible.
RPD is trying to determine whether the crowd size exceeded the capacity of the building and whether the proper safety measures were taken. They’re working with the city’s Code Enforcement, Law Department, and The New York State Liquor Authority. They’re also interviewing people at the concert, and security.
Smith is asking anyone with pictures or videos that could help with the investigation to call 911 or email them to PSI@CityofRochester.gov.
