Photo Agency Denies Chasing Harry and Meghan

This week the Duke and Duchess of Sussex claimed they had been chased through the streets of New York by paparazzi [click here if you missed that].

The photo agency denies the claims...

"At Backgrid USA Inc., we value transparency and ethics in journalism, which include providing fair and factual responses to claims. We are aware of Prince Harry's statement regarding an alleged 'near catastrophic car chase' involving himself, Meghan Markle, and her mother, in New York City on Tuesday night," the company said in a statement to ET responding to the allegations. "We want to clarify that we have received photos and videos of last night’s events from four freelance photographers, three of whom were in cars and one of whom was riding a bicycle. It is important to note that these photographers have a professional responsibility to cover newsworthy events and personalities, including public figures such as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle."
Backgrid claimed that the "freelance contributors... were covering the couple's stay in New York City, including the possibility of a dinner after an award ceremony." The company alleged that the photographers "had no intention of causing any distress or harm, as their only tool was their cameras."
According to the photo agency, the hired photographers alleged that "one of the four SUVs from Prince Harry's security escort was driving in a manner that could be perceived as reckless. The vehicle was seen blocking off streets, and in one video, it is shown being pulled over by the police," their response continued.
The company also adamantly denied the Duke and Duchess' spokesperson's claim that they were being followed by "highly aggressive paparazzi" and "according to the photographers present, there were no near-collisions or near-crashes during this incident." "The photographers have reported feeling that the couple was not in immediate danger at any point," Backgrid said in their statement.

This goes back to the 70’s and Jackie Kennedy, not to mention Harry’s mom. Paparazzi are dangerous.

New York’s Mayor Eric Adams, -"We have a lot of traffic, a lot of movement, a lot of people are using our streets," Adams added. "Any type of high speed chase that involves something of that nature is inappropriate. There were numerous photographers that made their transport challenging. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived at their destination and there were no reported collisions, summonses, injuries or arrests in regard.” And “I would find it hard to believe that there was a two-hour high-speed chase.” New York City streets not built for a 2 hour chase, even the pigeons and the rats will tell you that. Anybody from or been to NY city will tell you this a lie. Plus no red camera footage? No news footage of the ongoing chase? B.S.

They just wanted some after coronation press. Nothing to see here folks, just some stunts and shows

They were on the move for a couple of hours because they couldn’t shake the photographers and didn’t want to lead them to where they were staying. I see the organized Meghan haters have showed up already. Queen Camilla paying you?

@4:34 Pull over to a gas station and call police then. They are lying and you can't see that.

Even the police didn’t believe them. Along with the mayor. Along with New Yorkers, ain’t no 2 hour chase. Not in no New York streets. This all for press.

Even the cab driver said isn’t wasnt no 2 hours. And a witness said it was their own security detail driving crazy, and when the left the venue their own car went up on the curb! She stay gassing up his mommy issues. When she leave him she taking everything BUT his therapy sessions🤣🤣🤣

Please I live in NYC and they had a police car escorting them. Also, the cab they jumped in only drove them around for ten minutes tops per the cabbie. Finally, they were driving around for like two hours so the paparazzi couldn’t follow them to the residence they were staying at in the UES. So no Meghan hating over here. Just facts. It is impossible to have a car chase in midtown Manhattan. You are all crazy if you think anyone is moving their car cuz Meghan and Harry are in NYC! Cars don’t move for ambulances or police! In other words no one cares about them in NYC. Meghan and Harry have an overactive imagination. 🤣💯

I’m glad they’re ok. Cab driver gave an interview on Piers Morgan. He basically confirmed the paparazzi was crazy and they were followed.

They were aggressively pursued. They're still trying to make Meghan seem like she's crazy.

She is crazy if she thinks anyone trusts what she says.
