I’m going to watch to support but really, this movie is a classic and did not need a remake. Just like when they did Sparkle. My young a$$ loved the original, and was highly disappointed in the actress who played sister. She could not sing smh.

Just WHY? This did NOT need to be remade. 👎👎

The first 1 wasnt that good anyway

Are they kidding. They wasted time and money on this? I need to finish my screenplay. And everybody on here need to write one fr. No new creativity? No imagination? So so sad. I don't need to see color purple again. I know the original by heart. Lol

This help Spielberg make more money and have Oprah give it the thumps up. The original is on TV every other week. NOt feeling it.

Skip the film, see the play.

Yeah. We didn't need a remake. It sounds like they needed a vehicle for Fantasia to be reintroduced to the public, and an opportunity for a quick money grab. I'm not interested in seeing this, the first one traumatized me enough.

Give it a rest.

What an unnecessary waste of money and talent.

I told you all that humans lack creativity now to the point they are reaching back in the past and trying to do remakes and reboots. All gifts come from God, including creativity and imagination, but they don't want God, and so their projects aren't good now. Whens the last time you've seen a good movie like Jaws, The Color Purple , Rage in Harlem, Harlem Nights, or even The Inkwell? It's been years.

Everything has been done. Aint no more new ideas. Yall cant think of any either

10:07 PM, It's not a "money grab" for the actors. It's like any other contract job. Work and be compensated for it according to the terms of the agreement. They don't and shouldn't work for free unless they want to. It's called employment.

^^^ I most certainly can think of new ideas when it comes to Black Americans.

I'd love to see a film that shows the connection between slavery and capitalism.

I'd also like to see films like Django Unchained where the hero's main concern is to save a Black woman. Can't think of any films other than Django where saving a Black woman is the goal.

And those are ideas I came up with before I've had my morning coffee. There are other stories to tell, we just have to ask for them.

I'm not talking about regular people in society, im talking about demonic Hollywood has run out of ideas

There's no creativity left in Hollywood. That's why these directors resort to remakes and reboots. Leave well enough alone!

Absolutely NO ONE asked for this

They could've did a version where the man is abused. Or followed sister to Africa and do a sequel based on that. Or Shug music career. Possibilities are endless. Why do the exact same? So lame.

Oprah revived it. On her tik tok she said we have 6 months to get our purple outfits together before the film debut.

Taraji doesn't fit for me

Dee said...

Taraji gonna be Cookie again as usual .... but her name is gonna be Suge Avery this time. I had such high hopes for her. But since playing Cookie on Empire, she seems stuck in that role forever. She brings Cookie to all of her roles now. She is SO STUCK in that role.

Everybody stop watching remakes...maybe they'll stop...
