Looks like it’ll be good. Didn’t cast a lot of Africans to play the roles. That’s a +

I'm tired of these remakes, especially when they mess with the classics. This reboot seems lazy and I wish they'd come up with something original for a change. We have so many untold stories to tell and a million great Black books that can be adapted for screenplay.

^^^They are trying to shut down our stories by banning our books. They want to keep telling the same stories (that they approve) over and over again.

I’m tired of this story. Didn’t they just have a musical of this? Ugh.

Black woman trauma porn. That's all Th Color of Purple is. That movie reinforces the notion that black women are expected to suffer at the hands of the black males who are supposed to protect them. I hated the Color Purple in the 80s and saw no need for a remake of trauma porn.

Yall are gonna complain no matter what. You don't want BW to play poor. You don't want them to play maids. Can't play slaves. Can't play drug addicts. Cant play strippers. Cant play villains. Can't play lesbians.

Wtf do yall want them to play???

This isn't even a true story.

Leave that classic alone. No remake was necessary.

The classic novel is FICTION. The book was adapted into what became a classic movie in the 80s. The movie was then adapted in the 2000s into a live broadway musical version of the classic movie. Now the broadway live musical version has been adapted to the current MUSICAL movie about to come out. This is not a classic movie remake. It’s the musical brought to film.

^^^ What you blabbing about? Didn't nobody on here complain about the roles BW are playing. Folks are talking about being tired of movies being remade.

It's really sad that some of you are so ignorant of how art works. Art, like books and plays, is reinterpreted all the time. That's what makes them CLASSICS. Only the best are remade. Why would anyone complain? 😁

Done messed up a classic because they lack the creativity to think of something new. Smh

This is not a remake, dummies. It’s a movie version of the Broadway musical. Not the same thing.

@328. We would never see this kind of story about Jewish women in Brooklyn. They have the same stories of abuse and harm like erryone else, but they're careful what is put in the media.

I read the book and saw the original, but I refuse to watch any revisions.
