Nicci Gilbert Denied Trial in P-Valley Copyright Case

Last year Brownstone lead singer Nicci Gilbert filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against the producers of P-Valley for stealing the concept of her play, "Soul Kittens Cafe" for their smash hit series [click here if you missed that].

Gilbert just received the bad news that her case will NOT be granted a trial...

But wait: Isn't Katori Hall also a Black woman? So how is this about Black women being "unprotected"?

I was hoping they'd hear her case. There are a lot of similarities between her movie the series. The movie wasn't nearly as good as P-Valley, but I still think they lifted her story. I hope she comes at this from a different angle. Good luck to her.
