NBC, E! and Peacock announced Jan. 26 that Lenny Kravitz will receive the Music Icon Award at the 2024 People's Choice Awards ceremony at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica on Feb. 18. Not only will the "American Woman" singer take home the coveted trophy honoring his decades-long career, the he will also take the stage to perform a medley of his biggest hits.
"With 11 studio albums across a decades-long career, Lenny Kravitz has cemented himself as a global rock superstar," NBCUniversal Entertainment's Executive Vice President for Live Events and Specials Jen Neal said in a statement. "Whether he's writing and performing his own hit songs or working behind the scenes writing for other industry greats, Lenny's musical gift is truly unmatched. We're thrilled to honor him as this year's Music Icon and look forward to seeing what he brings to the stage."
Known for his unique mix of rock, soul and funk influences in addition to being a multi-instrumentalist, Kravitz has sold more than 40 million albums worldwide over the last 30 years and earned four Grammy Awards.
The 2024 People's Choice Awards hosted by Simu Liu will air live on Sunday, Feb. 18, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on NBC, Peacock and E!.

Is he getting this award because he complained about Black awards shows never gave him acknowledgment? It looks like they still aren't.
Anyone who has said Lenny doesn't make great music clearly has never heard any of his albums or knows music. Lenny Kravitz not only makes great music, but he's an exceptional musician and arranger. Listen to Tyrese's new song, Don't Think You've Ever Loved Me, with Leandria, and you'll hear Lenny's musical arrangements . . . Brilliance!
I have ALL of Lenny’s “albums.” I’ve been a fan since college in the 90s and still am today. Your taste is your taste, and he is in my taste. This award is long overdue, although i personally could care less about these “awards” of validation I never care enough to watch. Love me some Lenny

He bich’d and whined for this. So he might not feel it was for his attributions to Rock & Roll. But, rather a participation award.
But, the truth is he deserves this and should’ve received more awards throughout his career.
I’m not into rock but I respect that it’s his preferred genre. Out of the 11 albums, 4 sold under platinum expectations and 1 of those went gold. 6 platinum albums is pretty good. He seems to be well liked and received by true rock fans so congratulations to him. This is one award that is deserving for his contribution to the music industry.
