Colman Domingo Cast as Nat King Cole

This week it was reported that actor Colman Domingo had been cast as Joe Jackson is the new Michael Jackson biopic [click here if you missed that].

Now Colman has been cast in the title role of a planned biopic about Nat 'King' Cole...

From Variety
Colman Domingo is already unforgettable, but now he’ll tackle the role to prove it.
Domingo will be starring as the legendary singer Nat King Cole in a movie musical from a script he co-wrote, Variety has learned exclusively. He will also be making his feature directing debut on the project.
“I’ve been working on it quietly for a few years,” he says during a Variety Awards Circuit Podcast episode. “It’s something I’m looking forward to putting together with some great partners.”
It’s not yet known which period Domingo’s film will focus on. One of the most notable moments of his life was on April 10, 1956: while performing before an all-white audience in Birmingham, Ala., a group of four white men attacked him while performing. After the authorities apprehended the men, the singer returned to the stage, with the remaining audience members giving him a 10-minute standing ovation.
Cole was one of the most popular and influential musicians of the 20th century. He began his career as a jazz and pop vocalist in the late 1930s, recording over 100 chart-topping songs in music history, notably “Unforgettable,” “Smile,” and “Let There Be Love,” and sold over 50 million records. The Grammy Awards gave Cole a posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award in 1990, and he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000.

The king of enunciation. One very mellow man. Hope Colman can bring him to a new generation.

Jonathan Majors is really missing out.

Why all these biopics? hollyweird has run out of creative ideas, also the time for them to be judged for their crimes, against actors is coming up, all the murders, trafficking, rapes of both males and females, drugs, blackmail and list of crimes go on and on. Hollyweird is going to burn. It's now Saturn's reign, karma and justice is the order of this age, and I'm here for it, those wicked Ashkenazi synagogue of Satan

Jonathan Majors only crime was dating a white woman. That's not worthy of the treatment he's receiving from Hollyweird and the 'just us' system.

Colman wrote and will now star in and direct this Nat King Cole project, which is really amazing. Colman is clearly a talented actor, who is not waiting around crying about what he's not getting and going after exactly what he wants. Congrats to Colman and I can't wait to see how he transforms into the brilliant Nat King Cole.

I agree 10:46 and what kinda gets to me is these biopics are people's 'perceptions' about someone's life, it's never 100% accurate (even if taken from an autobiography) and sometimes takes away from their legacy. Sometimes... bc some other times if they're honest they show how cray somma them really were.

Well, it seems we’re about to find out how cray cray Nat was because let’s be honest, the truly gifted do deal with a lot of heavy stuff to get to the fame and during. I wish they would have asked Natalie before her passing to do it the right way. Her drug abuse didn’t just stem from adulthood. It had to have a lot to do with the pressures of being his daughter as well. I’m sure her mom told her enough about her father. Colman is a good actor and portraying Nat will be interesting to watch.

Nate Parker & Jonathan Majors keep getting their necks stomped on!

They swapped out Jonathan Majors in everything for Colman Domingo in everything.

So Colman will probably be next on the chopping block when his star rises. Just a matter of time.
