Wendy Williams' Guardian Sued Over Predatory Guardianship Practices

Last weekend the "Where is Wendy Williams" documentary on Lifetime put a spotlight on Wendy's court ordered guardianship, her family's displeasure with the situation and their non-existent relationship with Wendy's court appointed guardian, Sabrina Morrissey [click here if you missed that].

Shockingly Wendy's guardian is currently being sued by another lawyer accusing her of putting his client an in an unnecessary guardianship...

From The Sun
WENDY Williams' guardian has been accused of a scheme to rob a client in a $30 million lawsuit while controlling the troubled host's finances.
The U.S. Sun can exclusively reveal that Wendy's guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, her firm Morrissey & Morrissey LLP, and about 10 other attorneys were named as defendants in the lawsuit.
Morrissey and other attorneys were accused in the suit of conspiring to "perpetuate a baseless guardianship" against an individual, Jose Verdugo, in New York who had won $5.5 million in a personal injury claim.
The plaintiff in the case, attorney Michael Flomenhaft of The Flomenhaft Lawfirm, PLLC, represented Verdugo after he sustained head and back injuries from a construction accident.
Flomenhaft claimed that the trouble started around 2009, when a former associate of his, Herbert Rodriguez, Esq. at Schwartz Goldstone Campisi & Kates, LLP (SGCK), contacted his client.
The court documents alleged that Rodriguez misrepresented to Verdugo about Flomenhaft's handling of his case, and told him and his wife, who desperately needed the award money that his "case could not be finalized unless Verdugo consented to an MHL Article 81 Guardianship that Verdugo did not want or need."
That's where Wendy's guardian, who was criticized by the star's family in a docuseries by Lifetime that aired this past weekend, allegedly became involved in the dispute.
Rodriguez and his firm "initially partnered and conspired with Sabrina Morrissey, Esq. of M&M to impose on Verdugo an MHL (Mental Hygiene Law) Article 81 Guardianship," the court documents state.
"Under the guise of protecting and vindicating Verdugo, they jointly pursued a dual litigation strategy aimed at, getting rid of Flomenhaft" and allegedly "reaping Morrissey & Morrissy substantial court- awarded fees as Guardian counsel through litigation: maligning Flomenhaft legally and ethically."
The suit claims that Wendy's conservator became guardian of Verdugo on January 19, 2010, and continued to October 7, 2015.
The complaint also alleges that she was involved in litigation related to the conservatorship.
The suit alleged that guardianship judges also played a role in the alleged scheme.
"Ongoing ex parte communications between judges in the Guardianship Part and guardian attorneys have also facilitated the scheme.
"Defendants have conspired to perpetuate a baseless guardianship over a ward named Jose Verdugo under the guise of protecting Verdugo's best interest," the lawsuit alleged.

Watch the movie "I Care A Lot" will explain how the courts appoint people who have not the best interest of the patient (not family) just to rip them off financially and keep them away from their families.

I told you all that court gaurdianships are a bogus way for them to steal money because nothing is done for free. By the time they finish BILLING Wendy for the gaurdianship, she won't have crap.

I loved WW on the radio and her talk show. This is heart breaking to see this Black Woman work so hard to rise to the top and have no one to care for her properly in her decline of health.
I made my cousin in charge of my estate such as it is. I know I can trust him over my siblings. This is a good example, if your single, healthy or not, have a legal loved one to take charge of your affairs. Accidents can happen at any time.

Guardianships are dangerous because there is so little oversight.

Poor Wendy, everyone is suspect as normal the stakes raise when you wealthy. Someone assured her when was healthy, young her money would be safe. Im sure they didn't tell her she couldn't get a dime of her own money.

This is getting ridiculous, nonstop coverage of Wendy Williams is too much.

8:41, At least you have someone to trust. My siblings have proven to me none of the 3 would EVER have my best interest at heart. I told my husband if he, our child, and myself perished, I'd rather my lil crumbs go to St. Jude because my blood relatives do not love me at all, no one even called during COVID. I believe God shows us how folks are in advance so we know to never trust them. People plan your life!

It's a shame no honest "family member or members" can care for her. Wow!!!

Wendy always wanted to be famous. Be careful what you wish for.

I wonder how many other celebrities live like this. The ones who don't have any real friends but just flunkies, hanger ons, and people just needing a check.

I don't how much money she has but it doesn't make up for this. This is a sad mess. Sad.
