ReplyDeleteI give her props for her grind but she zipped past being a Chris Brown & Diddy's supporter to gyrating 3/4 nekked while cosplaying a femme to rubbing elbows with the Hollywood elites. And now she's all of a sudden one of very few Black faces in that crowd and a respected thespian. How'd that happen? Lol.
ReplyDeleteSeems like just the other day she was mainly known for doing background choreography work, releasing non-hit albums and living out a bad marriage on reality TV. Yet somehow she's now a Golden Globe winner and Oscar nominated actress even though she's only been in a few movies. Biggest kicker is she's technically in the same category with a Yale trained actress like Angela Bassett. Color me confused and skeptical. Hollywood sure knows how to create and promote what they want to.
There are so many words one can use in the English language. I abhor hearing people, and especially women, refer to themselves or other women as FEMALES. It's reductive, disrespectful and tells me she still lacks class.

Our girl's phenomenal success has nothing to do with casting couches or satan. She first got noticed because she's just stunning. Then her talent showed she was the real deal. Who else could have pulled off that role? I don't know about you, but I can't imagine Halle Berry raaaping Sean Penn.

I don't think Her sudden poplularity in Hollywood has anything to do with how she looks or her acting ability.
There are thousands upon thousands of emensly talented women in search of FAME fresh from gifted acting programs & elite schools of the Arts; now Homeless on Skid Row in California.

@11:37 I don't know how far "inside" Hollywood you are but if you knew how things work you'd know there are many ways to rise to the top without passing through the meat market. Teyana became an A-lister because of the high visibility and success she received outside of Hollywood. She was gorgeous and freaky at the same time. She was everywhere from TMZ to the top industry events. She made executives curious and that's how she got over.
ReplyDeleteMy Super Sweet 16 came out in 2007 and she's been in the business a very, very, very long time. Once she moved on from full on tomboy she morphed into a semi s3x kitten. She's rubbed shoulders with Pharrell, Diddy and Kanye, and scores more who were considered A-List. She's always been showy with her body and never afraid to experiment with her looks or fashion sense. Maybe the nose job was the final push she needed but I seriously doubt the powers that be magically decided she was this undiscovered talent they'd been searching for all these years. Give me a break.
