Roc-A-Fella Expose'

Next year former Roc-A-Fella employee Choke No Joke is filming a documetary dishing all the dirty details on why Damon Dash and Jay Z fell out and the fall of the Roc-A-Fella empire. Choke says it all started after Dame signed Ol' Dirty Bastard and then tried to make Cam'ron The Roc's vice president. Joke says, "Jay wasn't feeling none of that shit." He also claims Dash let fame go to his head saying, "Dame' was a camera freak. He loved people to tape him, 'cause he started thinking he was a star . . . Ever since the 'Big Pimpin' ' video, he started gettin' a little light and it started to get to his head."

Tale Of The Tape

Yesterday The Post did a piece on Damon Dash and his holdings. They didn't paint a very rosey picture, but I was still impressed. Anyway, they said he's struggling to remake his empire a year and a half after splitting with Jay-Z. They broke it down saying, Dame's CEO clothing line has yet to take off, his reality TV show "Ultimate Hustler" aired for one season and bombed in the ratings, his foray into Hollywood with the movies "State Property" and "The Woodsman" did not produced box office hits, though DVD sales fared better. Plus they say Dame pulled the plug on his State Property sportswear line and fledgling record label Damon Dash Music Group. They also said, while the line of designer clothing by his wife Rachel Roy has garnered critical acclaim, and a higher profile after Roy appeared on "Oprah," it has yet to turn a profit, and that Dash's biggest win so far has been Pro-Keds, a sneaker brand he licensed from Stride Rite in 2004 and which, according to industry estimates, has more than doubled sales in the past year to exceed $22 million.

Anyway, it started a little debate on my favorite message board and reavealed some things about Jay Z that I didn't know.

The first person was like:

….Dash needed and needs Jay period.

Then this other one said:

…..Jay is an employee. Jay didn't own Roc-A-Wear, doesn't own the 40/40 Club but he is good at endorsing products. It's a whole lot different when you're the entrepreneur as Dame is.

So then this anonymous poster said:

….Listen ***** or Dame Dash intern, U are dealing with smart folks here, ok.
1. Jay Z owns 50% of 40/40 brand ( NY, NJ, LA, Vegas, Singapore, Tokyo)
2. Jay Z owned 50% of Rocawear (25% + Dame Dash's 25% which he bought in 2005)
3. Jay Z owns Spotted Pig restaurant and he also bought the building.
4. Jay Z owns a portion of NJ Nets
5. Jay Z owns 50% of Rocafella records
6. Jay Z owns 50% of the company that manufactures Rocawear todate
7. Jay Z is paid $2 million per yr as Rocawear CEO
8. Jay Z is paid $3.3 million per yr as CEO of Def Jam
9. Jay Z owns part of Steve Stoute Translation company
10. Jay Z owns a part of Carol's Daughter
11. Jay Z owns his publishing ( This brings a ton every yr)
On top of all that he gets money from RBK, Coke, Budweiser, HP, PoloNow that article about Dame Dash explained clearly that Dash has no venture making money period. He gets just a little licensing money from Pro Keds but that is it. How can U be a businessman and fail this much while Jay who U want us to believe is not a businessman succeed in so many ventures??

Then just to be funny they added:

We don't believe U, U need more people.

Damon Dash Suing His Accountants

Seems like Damon Dash just can't catch a break. Dame just filed a lawsuit against his accountant for 3.5 million dollars. Dame accuses his money man of incorrect filing of his tax returns and not telling him how much money he made after the sale of one of his companies.

Jay Z Says He Out Grew Damon Dash

Jay Z finally speaks about his break up with Damon
Dash and Roc A Fella Records.
What a shrewd business man Jay is. He decides to talk
just in time for his new cd release. LL Cool J said J
was good at promoting J, and about that diss L slung at J.
Jay wants to know what else he could have done
to promote LL's cd. He said he gave him two videos, what
else did he want?
Anyway,
About Damon Dash and Roc A Fella
Jay says, he was offered 20 million to leave Roc A Fella two
years before he actually did it. Ultimately, he says the partnership just
wasn't what it once was, and talks about it on his new cut Lost Ones.
Listen to it here.
Whatever. I don't see Jay and Dame making up any time soon.
