DL Hughley Calls Out Pastor John Gray

DL Hughley calls out Pastor John Gray and the coalition of Black pastors who took a meeting with Donald Trump at the White House...

Optics. It’s never about what it is. It’s about what it looks like. My wife @grayceeme told me “If you go, no one will hear what you say. They won’t understand why you’re there. And any good that could come out of it will get lost in translation.” Wise words from a loving, discerning wife. I had not one thing to gain by being there. Not. One. But I asked the Lord when I was asked to be present in this initial meeting about potential prison reform-that could greatly end up benefitting many people who look just like me-Lord, Do you want me in that room? My first mind was no. The pain of so many is too real. The hurt. The isolation. The sense of disenfranchisement. The real hate that has bubbled to the surface of the national discourse. I myself have been vocal about my personal disagreements with key policy decisions of this administration. I have everything to lose. Credibility. Reputation. Every natural inclination says stay home. Don’t get played. It’s gonna be a photo op with no substance. But I did the one thing I can’t shake: I prayed again and asked God. Do you want me in that room? My attendance gives the answer. My heart was pure as was my motive and intention. But the pain of those who have been hurt is real. And I would be a dishonorable man not to acknowledge that. But I will honor what I believe was the mandate on my life to be there and available to God should He choose to give me voice. This post is in no way attempting to invalidate the visceral reaction of those who can’t imagine why I would be in the room. The question becomes who did Jesus turn away from? This said, I went to this meeting to listen. And I do pray for comprehensive prison reform so people can have the second chance they need. And I also understand the pain and questions. May my heart translate beyond the optics. (OH YEAH, the pastor who said the current president was the most pro-Black president ever WAS NOT ME-so get that STRAIGHT) love y’all. This post is closed to comments. This my heart. It needs no commentary. #swipeleft

Organized religion has been leading our people astray since the days of slavery! Nothing has changed, black folks stay following these false prophets and deceivers straight to the pits of hell. I to this day can’t understand why a racist white mega rich man who has had multiple wives, a gang of kids, is an adulterer and a admitted sexual predator who has had numerous affairs with escorts and porn stars, has such a strong religious following. I thought religious people were full of shit and hypocrites before, but damn their love for 45 solidified every single thing I thought about them.

^^^THIS. All that needs to be said.

Obviously when he says he asked the lord that means his lord satan. Hey folks forget these people and learn who you really are

So,everyone knows how Trump gets down. He's an old ass racist. Just a morally corrupt human being. We know this.
Yet, no one wants to meet with Trump. But on the otherhand we still talking about all these atrocities we're still enduring. Still bitching and moaning. Yet, we let our pride get in the way and refuse to meet with the man. Get mad when other folks meet with him.
I'm mean we can't have it both ways can we?
For what it's worth, it does not hurt or cost a thing for some of these black celebrities to dialogue with this man.
Like Meek Mill for example. He let JayZ grimey ass talk him out of seeing Trump. Meeks never knows. That particular meeting could have worked in his favor some type of way. Just because a conversation takes place doesn't mean you kissing Trump ass, licking his balls or sucking his dick. Doesn't make you a coon either. Something has to give. Otherwise, shut the fuck up.

Organized religion has kept our people in spiritual, mental and physical slavery for far too long. It is on it's last leg, the next generation will not have this stranglehold on their spirits. These pulpits pimps and pimpettes have sold our people out and were paid agents in our communities, is it any wonder there is a church on every block in the black communities, its to keep us docile, complacent and loving our enemies in the face of great atrocities, while we wait on some fairy tale sky daddy to save us, and wait to get to heaven to get our reward for being the good docile slaves obeying our master here on earth. Fuck that!! every last one of these traitorous quislings should be taken out and shot.

Thank you! @ 2:24PM Black people are in no position to refuse a meeting with the most powerful person in the country.

What Meek Mill did was ridiculous. If he was actually serious about Prison reform, he would have meet with the President of the United States and educated him the way Kardashian did to get the black woman's sentence commuted.

The reason the rich continue to get richer is because they engage and lobby whomever and whichever side is in office.

With so much at stake this is not the time for Black people to be so emotional politically. Imagine if Fannie Lou Hamer never Went to the 1964 DNC or MLK never met with Lyndon B Johnson, where the hell would we be?

I agree with you, something has to give or Black people need to shut the hell up.

the most important aspects of prison reform is getting rid of bails that keep black people in jail for non violent crimes for long period of times because they can't afford to pay them and reversing mandortory sentencing. there are blakc people serving 10 year sentences for weed possession. while now in several states weed has been legalized and white hipsters are going on to become millionaires with shops and other weed ventures (clothing, food, etc.) trump does not want to do away with either of these structures that keep black people locked up. so "prison reform" talk is a waste of time with him. he and his administration scrapped the civil rights page on the official white house website and replaced it with blue lives matter. kim k got over because she is a white chick. black people are fools to meet with trump because he won't do anything for them he just wants photo ops. when the black college presidents meet with him trump actually CUT funding to HBCUs. smh. lol. so trying to guilt black people to meet with a devil/con artist is absurd.

I am so tired of these cooners trying to fake the funk. Truth is you are jumping on this fools train for profit not people. One day all of you cooners will pay the inevitable price for jumping on the racists cooner train. Unfortunately cooners have coon followers. That is all.

^ Meek did the right thing. What Meek probably should have done, which would have been a greater benefit to the people of his hometown and threat to the system, was launch a voter education and registration campaign. The Kardashians are not black and this is not their struggle. While they helped free one black woman they damn near helped destroy a number of black men and their careers. Look at the whole picture.

@5:55 - if you really think Kim Kardashian went into the Oval Office and "schooled" Trump on Prison reform you are totally LOST and a blinded sheep.

Some people are engorged with that Kool Aid. Damn Shame!

Pastor Darrell Scott said trump was the most pro-black president ever. I wonder if that was a dig at Obama, and if so, what did Obama do to him to deserve that?
