Grammys Cut Drake's Mic After He Tells Artists They Don't Need Awards

Rapper Drake gets his mic cut after he uses his Grammy acceptance speech for Best Rap Song to tell other artists they don't need a Grammy...

Drake won the Grammy for Best Rap Song for God's Plan.

Such an ignorant thing to do. Tell other people they don't need a Grammy on the Grammy stage, AFTER you just won one. If you really felt that way why did you even show up ? Drake and Nicki are soooo fake to me

He is such a lame ass for this. According to a Google search he has accumulated about 161 awards and has won about 5 or so Grammy's already? Fucking hypocrite..after he's won accolades he tells others not aspire for any trophies?? Dude get the fuck out here and go sit your ass down somewhere. After the fact and being in the game forever; what a horrible thing for him to say. wow, what a complete imbecile.

I think he meant it to say that your career is not over if you do not win awards. Your career can still be great without other people who may not understand your music judging you to decide if you deserve an award. It is similar to Angela Bassett. She doesn't have the awards like an Oscar to show just how great of an actress she is, but the lady is great. At least that is what I got from his speech.

9:37 He's slighting the award, yet he's still accepting? But you have an excellent point and I get it. Because there are truly excellent artists out there. Yet, they may not have received the "reward/award" that they truly deserved.

You're right.

Sometimes, my people are so short-sighted, and thats partly why we are where we are today.

For one thing, they cut the mic, so we dont know what else he was going to say....but more importantly:

The Grammy's and whatever other platform that TPTB are pushing out to the world are systematically erasing our culture and identity. Did anyone notice that only ONE black person (gambino) won an award? Why did they choose an ill equipped latina (who will never admit that she owes her entire career to in living color and diddy) to pay tribute to Motown? I guess Fantasia, Jhud, or ANYONE else was too busy??

Drake can be problematic, but look at the bigger picture. He aint lying, and we need to stop looking for yt's acceptance. The fact tht he got up there on THEIR STAGE, and basically TOLD THEM TO THEIR FACE took way more balls than "not showing up" IMO.

I agree with Drake. Awards shows are just a pat on the back for rich people which is why I don't watch them.

I get what he's saying though. Although he accepted the award, he's basically speaking to the ones who didn't win and for people who are aspiring to do bigger things... Not everyone can win awards but that doesn't mean that they don't have something to offer.

11:27 exactly...these awards shows are basically super hyped up, ritualized and hypersexualized glorified annual office parties. Szraight up circle jerks...smh AND political.
