Kanye West Settles Masters Lawsuit

Back in January Kanye West filed a lawsuit against EMI Records demanding the return of his publishing rights [click here if you missed that].

The case has been settled...

According to reports Kanye West and EMI submitted documents to the court reading,
“PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that Plaintiffs Please Gimme My Publishing, Inc., West Brands, LLC, Kanye West, and Ye World Publishing, Inc. (the “Plaintiffs”) and Defendants EMI April Music, Inc. and EMI Blackwood Music, Inc. (the “Defendants”) (collectively, the “Parties”) have reached an agreement in principle to settle the above-captioned action in its entirety. The Parties expect to draft and finalize a settlement agreement within ninety (90) days.”
The terms of the agreement have not been revealed.

We all know the rules by now, get your publishing and then get suicided because you are worth more dead than alive. Just ask Prince and any other artist who won major lawsuits against the industry.

When you own your masters/publishing, they can't easily control you. This is all about money and control. Never lose sight of that.
