When Faith Met Pac

"One night, I went out to the Hollywood Athletic Club with some friends. As soon as we get inside, I see Treach from Naughty By Nature. We exchanged hugs and greetings and I introduced Treach to my friends." "Somebody here wants to meet you," Treach said. "Who?" I asked. "My boy Tupac wants to say what's up," Treach said, gesturing to a table behind him. Before I go any farther, let me be absolutely clear on something. Many people have asked me why I wouldn't peel off in the opposite direction when I heard Tupac's name. And the answer is simple: There was no need. I didn't know anything about what label Pac was signed to, whom he was cool with, whom he had beef with. "Almost immediately after we were introduced, a photographer who had been trolling the club for celebrities came up to us and asked us to pose." After we exchanged pleasantries, Tupac began to compliment me. "I really like your music," he said. "I want to do a song with you." I said, "You'd have to get clearance from my label to do that." "That's not a problem," he said. "It's not going to be cheap," I told him. "And, I need my money up front." "How much?" I replied, "It's going to be twenty-five thousand dollars." "No problem," he said. Two days later I spoke to Big. I told him, "I met Pac out here, he wants me to do a song with him." "Oh word?" Big said. "You gonna do it?" "If the money comes through, yeah, I'll do it." "The next night was the party for the release of the "Waiting To Exhale," soundtrack. I took a limo to the party with my friend Nicci, a singer in the group Brownstone. A soon as we pulled up, my cell phone rung. "What's up Faith. Where you at?" It was Tupac. I told him I was at the Waiting To Exhale party. He said, "I'm here, too!" "I looked out the car window, and there he was. He made a bee line for the car, opened up the door and jumped in the backseat with us. I wasn't planning on hanging out with Pac. I introduced him to my friend and we chatted until it was time to hit the red carpet." When we got inside the venue, I found our table and sat down. I was just starting to get comfortable when Pac slid into a chair next to me and Nicci. He was acting like he was going to sit there for the rest of the night. "Tupac eventually left our table and was mingling. After the party ended, we went outside to our limo and Tupac was standing there. "Where ya'll going now?" "We're going to a party at the Peninsula hotel," I said quickly. He said, "That's where I'm staying!" I'll catch a ride over there with ya'll. Tupac jumped in the limo and stretched out, making himself comfortable. Now, I was definitely feeling weird." "After the party at the hotel, we hung out a bit more with Tupac and his friends, shared a blunt and discussed specifics on my guest appearance on an upcoming record." A few days later, Pac arrived at my house driving a black convertible Mercedes-Benz with the top down. At this time, Pac had enough fame and notoriety that he did not need to be driving around Los Angeles in a top-down convertible. At that moment I wanted to tell him that I would drive to the studio myself in my rental car. But I didn't. I just got in the car and we pulled off. I noticed immediately that a black Town Car was following us. From the look of the beefy guys in the backseat, they were security guards. "The ride to the studio was about 15 minutes. We didn't talk much. I didn't like any of it, the convertible, the security behind us, none of it felt right. I decided I would go in, lay down my vocals and haul ass out of the studio as soon as possible." We pulled up to a nondescript parking lot in nearby Tarzana. I followed Tupac through the doors. As soon as the doors opened, I saw blood-red carpeting throughout the hallway entrance and lighted sign that said "Death Row Records." "I felt the blood rush from my face and I thought I was going to pass out."

Suge Knight Arrested For Beating His Girlfriend

Suge got arrested for beating the shit out of his girlfriend in Las Vegas yesterday. Suge and his girl were driving near the strip when, for unknown reasons, Suge slugged the chick several times in the head. The girl grabbed the steering wheel and forced the car onto the curb where she jumped out and ran. Didn't do her any good because Suge caught her ass and continued to beat her. Passersby called the cops who showed up just in time to catch Suge kicking the chick in the head. Suge, who was wielding a knife and had Ecstasy and hydrocodone in his possession was arrested and hit with assault and drug charges. He later posted $19,000 bail and was released.

Death Row Not Sold

There's been a lot of controversy over the sale of Death Row. First, convicted drug dealer Michael Harris and his wife successfully sued Suge [from jail] for $107 million dollars claiming they helped found The Row but where cheated out of profits. The Harris' sued to collect judgement and forced Death Row into bankruptcy, where it was picked up by The Global Music group for $24 million. To make a long story short, Global Music never came up with the money to complete to sale so Death Row is going back on the block.

Nate Dogg Posts Bail

Hip Hop hook singer Nate Dogg, who suffered a stroke that left him partially paralyzed earlier this year, has been going through a thang. First it was the stroke thing, which when word first leaked out, was largely dismissed as rumor but turned out to be horribly true. Then in 2006 he got charged with five misdemeanors -- aggravated trespass of a dwelling, battery, annoying telephone calls, dissuading a witness from reporting a crime and violating a protective order from a previous domestic violence incident -- after breaking into a Huntington Beach home where his ex-girlfriend, her new boyfriend and her mother lived. After Nate got in the house, he punched the boyfriend in the face and left. Three of the five charges were eventually dropped, but Nate's ex and her man filed restraining orders against him.

Anyway Nate got arrested a couple of weeks ago for trying to run his current wife off the road, driving with a suspended license and making terrorists threats. So yesterday after his arraignment, Nate posted $100,000.00 bail and was released with a warning to stay away from his wife. Nate is due back in court August 1.

Big Fight Over Death Row

Despite a high profile acquisition of Death Row Records by Global Music Group, the legal woes for the former Hip-Hop giant continues, as venture capitalist Ron Goldberg is suing the new owners for $25 million. Goldberg alleged in Superior Court that the investors he recruited for the acquisition conspired with Global Music Group president Anthony Marotta and closed the deal without his knowledge.

He also names Susan Berg and Reggie Bush of RSB Investment Strategies as parties he recruited for the deal. Global Music Group acquired Death Row Records for $24 million just weeks ago, on June 24. Goldberg further claims that the investors and Marotta used “confidential know-how, data, techniques, and contacts” that Goldberg himself had polished and refined for the deal. Death Row Records was founded in 1991 by Dr. Dre and Marion “Suge” Knight.

Suge Knight Bites Kevin Connelly

Suge Knight was at Le Bron's James ESPY afterparty and he was "play" wrestling with actor Kevin Connelly from Entourage, when witnesses say, Suge bit Connelly's finger until he drew blood. The weirdest part is they say Kevin was trying to act like it was all good even though he was bleeding all over the place.

Suge Knight Done With Music

Suge got a reality show in the works called "Unfinished Business" set around his hometown, Compton California. Suge says he's going to concentrate on "acting" until he's sure which way the music industry is going to go. I guess that turning himself over to the Lord thing is over with. Oh well.

Suge Knight Ready to Pull the Plug on Death Row

In an exclusive interview, Marion "Suge" Knight, 42, told Page Six he's ready to pull the plug on the label he founded in 1991. His change of direction occurred after he made two visits to the City of Refuge Church, near his hometown of Compton, near L.A., where preachers Noel Jones and T.D. Jakes eerily gave him the same message.
"You've got to be able to let the past go, and move forward to the future," he quoted Jones as saying. Two weeks later, Knight heard Jakes, who was visiting from Texas, say, "You can't keep living in the past. God gives you a chance to move on."
Knight says, "They talked about the same thing, and it felt like they were talking straight to me. I don't want to be tied up with this for years. I want to move on with my life in a more positive direction."

Suge Knight Calls Snoop Dogg A Snitch

Suge Knight says the only reason Snoop ain't in
jail is because he's a snitch. Suge says Snoop is the
only person he knows who keeps getting caught
over and over and never go to jail. I know
that's how it is in the hood, but I just figured Snoop
was buying his way out. Suge is probably just mad
because in the upcoming issue of Rolling Stone Snoop
is talking major stuff on Suge, about how he punked
Suge and how he was gonna kill him and all this other rah rah.
